Global Players has chosen the European Study Abroad Center (ESAC) as our academic partner in Prague, Czech Republic. With over 10 years of experience, ESAC provides unique study abroad and internship opportunities to students from all over the world that are both educationally significant and culturally meaningful. ESAC specializes in International Business, Marketing, and Management. The program administrators have personal connections and relationships with Prague’s leading businesses and entrepreneurs, including Ernst & Young, IKEA, and Radio Free Europe. These local connections result in site-visit and internship opportunities which allow GP students’ first hand insight into foreign cultures and business operations. We are very fortunate to have joined forces with such a dynamic partner committed to maintaining high academic standards.
Short-term programs are ideal for the rigorous schedule of the college athlete. During the summer term, students can earn up to eight (8) credit hours which transfer back to their home university, often for significantly cheaper than than the cost per credit at home. Add the study abroad experience and sport-specific training, and the value exceeds any other summer option. Whether our Global Players are on the field, in the classroom, at an open air fresh market, riding public transport, or staying with a host family, cultural learning and understanding are apparent and encouraged.
Play
One of the main components of Global Players’ programs is to offer participants the opportunity to compete in their respective sport via tournament play and sport-specific training. Each event is competitive and fun which help our participants learn balance and creativity within their game. Athletes not only return home in shape but have a fresh perspective and stronger leadership and communication skills as well. You have the best of both worlds by being able to study abroad while continuing your training and skill work!
Travel
Why read about the Mona Lisa when you can see her for yourself? Why watch the World Cup on TV when you can cheer from the stands? Traveling is what makes the real life “real”. As a member of the Global Players team, we encourage you to dive head first into new cultures. We aren’t there to hold your hand but instead to help you transition from tourist to traveler. As the world becomes ‘flat’ and the playing fields level, it is more vital then ever to have international travel experience. Not to mention it is absolutely unforgettable, often life-changing, and really fun!
Serve
The service pillar of our program is particularly important. Many athletes may have the opportunity to travel and play but very few will be able to apply their personal gifts, talents and experiences for the purpose of enriching the lives of others. Participants gain so much from their summer abroad that we feel it is our responsibility to give back, not only as Global Players but as global citizens. Currently our programs include the Out of Bounds Tour where our student-athletes road trip through a variety of pre-determined cities to help grow the game they love while immersing in the culture. We are always interested in diversifying our service tour by partnering with local community organizations in need of help. Whether we restore homes, teach English, or serve food to the homeless, our goal is to reach across cultural divides to better the international community.
